Colorado tint law

What's Legal In Colorado

We walk you through the rules for your specific vehicle class before we install anything.

What tint percentage is legal in Colorado?

Colorado allows 27% VLT or lighter on the front side windows of most passenger vehicles, with darker shades permitted on the rear side and back glass. Rules differ by vehicle class, so we walk you through what applies to your specific vehicle before we install anything.

Is windshield tint legal in Colorado?

A tinted strip along the top of the windshield is permitted, and clear or very light ceramic windshield films are used for heat rejection. We'll tell you what's appropriate and legal for your vehicle rather than guessing.

Does Colorado allow reflective tint?

Colorado limits how reflective vehicle window film can be. Our ceramic films are chosen to perform on heat rejection without relying on a mirrored appearance.

Questions

Ceramic Tint Answers

What is ceramic window tint?

Ceramic tint is a non-metallic window film that uses nano-ceramic particles to reject heat and block UV. Because there's no dye and no metal layer, it keeps its color, stays optically clear, and doesn't interfere with electronics.

How is ceramic different from carbon or dyed film?

Ceramic rejects the most heat and holds the highest clarity of the three. Carbon is a solid mid-tier film that resists fading but rejects less heat. Dyed film is the cheapest and the most likely to fade, purple, and bubble. We install ceramic exclusively.

Does window tint reduce interior heat in a car?

Yes. Ceramic tint reduces the solar heat coming through the side and rear glass, so the cabin heats up less while parked and cools down faster once you're driving. Adding a ceramic windshield film makes the biggest additional difference because the windshield is the largest piece of glass.

Does ceramic tint interfere with GPS or phone signal?

No. Ceramic film is non-metallic, so it's compatible with GPS, cell signal, keyless entry, toll transponders, and driver-assist sensors.

Do you tint windshields?

Yes. We install full ceramic windshield film for heat and glare control, and windshield brows — a tinted strip across the top of the glass that blocks high-angle sun.

Can you remove old tint?

Yes. We remove failing, bubbled, or purpling film and clean the adhesive off the glass before installing new ceramic film.

How long does tint take to cure?

Film needs a short curing period after installation. During that time some haze or small water pockets can appear and then clear on their own. We give you simple aftercare instructions, including when it's safe to roll your windows down.
