At roughly 6,200 feet, there's less atmosphere overhead filtering UV and solar energy. That's why a 78-degree day in Castle Rock can make a west-facing room feel far hotter than the same day at sea level, and why interiors here fade faster than homeowners expect. Solar control film addresses the energy and UV coming through the glass, which is where that load enters the house.
Much of Castle Rock's housing stock is newer construction with tall great-room windows, transoms above the front elevation, and wide patio sliders — on lots where the landscaping isn't tall enough to shade anything yet.
